Soft Interpretations in Blue

Artist:

Soft Interpretations in Blue
Soft Interpretations in Blue is a deep exploration of the possibilities of material exchange in craft. Drawing on extensive experience with various materials and techniques, this work aims to create a dialogue between contrasts: softness and stiffness, expressiveness and minimalism, motion and stillness.

The hot-mould technique represents a highly experimental, multi-stage approach to glassblowing. A fabric model is first sewn, after which a mould is constructed around it and heated to over 500 °C. A hot glass bubble is then inserted into the mould and blown. This extra-hot environment extends the material’s surface tension, producing intricate details and textures in the final glass artwork.

Dimensions Approximately: 49 x 18 cm
Materials: Blown Glass
